It’s always fun to play with watercolour. I like to find new and unexpected colour combinations. Nothing is really new of course, but colours can feel new to me.

For these drawings I first experimented with the watercolour until I found a combination I liked. Then I made different shapes on paper.

Wet versus dry watercolour van be a huge difference. Especially the way I use watercolour. So it is always a surprise how these ‘watercolour blobs’ will dry up.

As soon as they’re dry I turn these drawings into little worlds with blackliner. I just play with random shapes until I’ve found a story I like.

And the story I created is probably not the story you see. That’s different for everybody. And that’s what I like about this more abstract work: it’s open for interpretation.
