I find it very relaxing to draw buildings. Even when the lines are not straight, you’ll know it’s a building. It doesn’t even have to be a square or a rectangle figure. As long as it has some windows and doors in some form, you’ll know it’s a building.
That gives a lot of freedom. No line has to be straight and any colour will suffice. So I can go nuts with these quite simple drawings. A perfect subject for my beloved watercolour pencils.
I love to colour with watercolour pencils. I know a lot of artists use them to draw and later colour with actual watercolour. The lines will dissolve in the water and paint. But I think it is super handy that you can colour the entire page and then just add water to let the colours bloom.
I don’t need as much water with these pencils. Therefore I can be much more accurate and make less of a mess. That’s what gives these buildings the kind of sweet and soft vibe I like.
