Orangutans are such amazing animals. They are so strong and they look so gentle. They are very human-like ( we share more than 94% of our genes) and yet they are endangered because of how we treat their habitat. That makes me incredibly sad. Because look at this face! Full of confidence and life.

Orangutan means “man of the forest” in the Malay language. They mostly live solitary lives and eat fruits like mangoes and figs. Maybe that’s why I like orangutans so much: I’m pretty much a loner too who would be very happy to live off just fruits.

I love this character. This orangutan is out there. Not scared of anything life will throw at them. I think most of us can use some of the energy of this orangutan character.

The original is drawn with graphite pencil on 250 gms paper. This is extra thick paper (it’s actually used for watercolour). This paper has a little structure in it to give it a natural look.
