This is a white rhino. Did you know that if you take elephants out of the picture, this would be the biggest land animal? They are gigantic armoured vehicles who look very ancient. And yes, they can be quite aggressive. Even the jungle king Mr Lion goes out of the way when a white rhino passes. Their skin is so thick, that they are basically the knights of the animal kingdom. And that on a strictly plant-based diet!
So of course I portrayed this rough and tough animal as a sweet and soft ukulele player. Because even though this animal might be one of the toughest on earth, its life is threatened for a number of reasons. And I think no one wants to lose this grey giant.

The original is drawn with graphite pencil on 250 gms paper. This is extra thick paper (it’s actually used for watercolour). This paper has a little structure in it to give it a natural look.
